Utah Valley University Associate Athletic Director Jared Sumsion has been honored as a recipient of a Student Affairs Division Award of Excellence. Sumsion, along with six other student affairs employees, were recognized at a luncheon on Thursday in UVU's Grande Ballroom.

Sumsion, who oversees external operations in the department of athletics, has been key in Utah Valley Athletics' branding and Wolverine Club endeavors over recent years. Within his current position, he serves as an overseer of revenue streams and fundraising for the department and as an administrator for the wrestling and new men's soccer programs.

He holds a bachelor's degree from UVU, where he served as student body president, and a master's degree in Business Administration from Westminster College. He is in the final stages of receiving a Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership with a minor in Conflict Resolution from Nova Southeastern University.

A native of Springville, Utah, Jared and his wife Stephanie are the parents of two boys: Kyson and Krew.

In addition to Sumsion's award, UVU Athletics' Associate AD and Senior Woman Administrator, Megan Kennedy, will be honored in April with a Presidential Award of Excellence.
