OREM, Utah -- Utah Valley University athletics congratulates the UVU Dance Team on its National Title at the NCA/NDA Collegiate Championship in Daytota Beach, Fla., last weekend.

The dance team took first among 25 other schools in the Open Dance Division I category. The entire competition consisted of 6,530 athletes on 304 teams from four different countries and 38 U.S. States.

"The UVU Dance Team has had the goal of becoming National Champions for a long time. This year we exceeded our expectations with the highest score we have ever received at College Nationals with a 9.84," UVU Spirit Squad Program Coordinator Carly Condie said. This teams motto throughout the preparation process was 'we are too determined to be defeated' and it was true down to the last second. The outpouring of love and support from other Universities on our win was incredible and we are honored to represent the Division I Title as National Champions 2014!"

This is the 16th year that UVU has competed at the collegiate championship. The Wolverines also placed fifth in the Hip Hop Division I category.
