UVU Hands Out 2010 Wolverine Club Athletic Awards
Baseball's Jace Brinkerhoff and Cross Country/Track's Mary Nothum were named the Male and Female Athletes of the Year.

Asumi Nakayama received the Wilson Sorenson Spirit of Sport award.

OREM, Utah -- The 2010 Wolverine Club Athletic Awards were held on Wednesday April 21, 2010. CLICK HERE for a photo gallery from the awards show.

Jace Brinkerhoff (Baseball) was named the Male Athlete of the Year while Great West Conference Champion Mary Nothum (Cross Country) was named the department's Female Athlete of the Year.

The night's other award winners were:

Outstanding Male Athletes by Sport: Jace Brinkerhoff (Baseball), Noah Cook (Golf), Ben Kjar (Wrestling), Allah Laryea-Akrong (Outdoor Track), Josh McCabe (Cross Country), Trac Norris (Indoor Track), Jordan Swarbrick (Basketball).

Outstanding Female Athletes by Sport: Abbie Lei Archibald (Golf), Allyce Jones (Volleyball), Cherylyn McGraw (Softball), Mary Nothum (Cross Country and Outdoor Track), Becky Reeves (Indoor Track), Brooke Salcido (Soccer) and Julie Smith (Basketball).

Newcomer of the Year: Blake Krahenbuhl (Baseball) and Brooke Hodson (Cross Country)

Most Inspirational: Flint Ray (Wrestling) and Adrienne Schneider (Soccer)

Wilson Sorenson Spirit of Sport: Casen Eldredge (Wrestling) and Asumi Nakayama (Basketball)

Crowd Pleaser: Kayli Broadbent (Volleyball) and Ben Kjar (Wrestling)

Teachers of the Semester: Melinda Bender and Ron Hammond

Assistant Coach of the Year: KC Rock (Wrestling)

Coach of the Year: Scott Houle (Cross Country/Track & Field)

Scholar Athlete of the Year: Jacob Buhler (Cross Country) and Cherylyn McGraw (Softball)

Play of the Year: Katey Turner (Soccer - scored only goal in 1-0 win in Great West Tournament Championship match)

Individual Performance of the Year: Chris Benson (Baseball - hit for the cycle in win at Hawai'i)

Game of the Year: Women's Basketball vs. North Dakota in Great West Tournament Championship

Team GPA Award: Men's Cross Country (3.6 GPA)
