UVU Athletics Reaches Agreement With Adidas
June 22, 2009 OREM, Utah -- Utah Valley University Athletics has reached an exclusive apparel, footwear, accessory and equipment agreement with Adidas, the school announced on Tuesday. The five-year agreement begins with the 2009-10 school year. "We are so excited here at Utah Valley University to announce our partnership with Adidas. They are a known leader in the work of athletic apparel," said UVU Director of Athletics Mike Jacobsen. "This partnership will help us as we brand our NCAA Division I Athletics program. This is also a university agreement, where multiple entities on campus will benefit greatly. Our student-athletes are very exited to show off the Adidas brand." The deal will outfit all 15 NCAA Division I programs at Utah Valley. It will also provide the school with cost-savings for each program's uniform and equipment needs while also adding a look-and-feel consistency to the school's new brand. "Adidas is thrilled by the opportunity to partner with Utah Valley University by signing UVU as our newest adidas Direct Partner," said Adidas Team Representative Chris Terrell. "The Athletic Department has very impressively elevated its program status, both nationally and regionally in a short time. There is a clear vision at UVU of where they expect to be in the near future and we're thankful to be alongside Wolverine Athletics for that future as they continue to impress both on the field and in the community." The agreement also provides extra incentives to programs that achieve NCAA postseason appearances, Great West Conference Championships and conference coach of the year awards. The special apparel pricing available to UVU Athletics will also be extended to other departments on campus. The agreement also includes extensive retail opportunities for the UVU Bookstore. Utah Valley University, an NCAA Division I program, just completed its final year as a provisional NCAA member. The Wolverines will be eligible for postseason play beginning in 2009-10. UVU joined the Great West Conference on July 1, 2008 and won the conference's first-ever championships in Women's Cross Country and Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field. The school will host the first-ever Men's and Women's Basketball Conference Championship in March 2010. |
