Micah Howard Hired to Direct Wolverine Club
Oct. 25, 2012
OREM, Utah -- The Utah Valley University Athletics Department announced Thursday the hiring of Micah Howard as Executive Director of the Wolverine Club, effective immediately. Howard was previously the department's Director of Corporate Partnerships, working to expand the UVU brand through relationships with local and national businesses and organizations. Howard had held that position since October 2011. In his role as Executive Director of the Wolverine Club, Howard will manage all facets of the Wolverine Club - UVU Athletics' sole booster club. Howard will look to increase club membership and raise money for UVU athletic scholarships. He will oversee and organize various Wolverine Club events and dinners throughout the year, and will also coordinate the annual Wolverine Club Awards and Golf Classic. Howard's duties also cross over into the realms of ticketing and retail, as he will manage the sale and distribution of game and season tickets as well as Wolverine merchandise. "Micah Howard will do a great job, as he leads the Wolverine club to new heights," said UVU Director of Athletics Michael V. Jacobsen. "The club is vital to the support of our student athletes, as it funds our scholarship program. Micah comes with many talents that will be utilized as he manages our ticketing operations and merchandise sales." Howard is a graduate of Brigham Young University and spent time working with the Utah Flash - an NBA Developmental League team based out of Orem that has since ceased operation - prior to his time with UVU. A native of Ithaca, N.Y., Howard resides in Provo with his wife, Dr. Heather Howard, and their three children. "I'm excited for this opportunity and eager to begin work with our current and future Wolverine Club members and our student-athletes," said Howard. "UVU Athletics has a bright future, and when you consider the recent move to the WAC, this is a wonderful time for growth for our program." The UVU Wolverine Club was founded in 1987 and serves as a non-profit organization funded by private contributions to support Wolverine athletics. The mission of the Wolverine club is to assist the athletic department through fundraising activities and programs.
