Four Wolverine Student-Athletes Honored as September, October Scholar Athletes

OREM, Utah -- The Perry Homes Utah Valley University Scholar Athletes for the months of September and October have been announced as cross country runners Mike Felix and Shelise Walker as well as soccer's Camille Broderick and volleyball's Chelsey Heaps.

Felix, a redshirt junior from American Fork, maintains a cumulative 3.85 GPA while pursuing his degree in History Education. Felix helped his team win the Great West Cross Country Championship this year with a 12th place finish by running the 8K race in a time of 25:59.26. Felix was also named to the All-GWC Second Team for his performance at the conference championships.

Walker, a redshirt junior from North Ogden, has a cumulative 3.7 GPA and is studying Psychology at UVU. Walker was named to the All-Great West Conference First Team after she finished second overall at the 5K conference championship race just over a week ago with a time of 17:57.22.

Broderick, a senior from Pleasant Grove, maintains a 3.74 GPA in the classroom while studying Elementary Education. She was named to the Great West All-Conference second team last week and on Monday, helped the Wolverines to the Great West Conference Tournament championship with a 2-1 win in double-overtime over Houston Baptist. Broderick also led UVU to the Great West's regular-season championship and is the program's all-time leader in games started and minutes played.

Heaps, a senior from Morgan, holds a 3.86 GPA while majoring in Exercise Science at UVU. This season Heaps leads UVU offensively on the court as she is tops on the team in kills, with 275, and kill per set average with 2.75. The outside hitter will look to help lead her team to its first Great West title this Friday when the Wolverines host North Dakota in a GWC title-deciding match.
