OREM, Utah - Members of the Western Athletic Conference are taking part in some friendly competition this holiday season in a Toys for Tots drive supported by the the schools' Student-Athlete Advisory Committees (SAAC).
Utah Valley University and the remaining eight WAC schools are competing to see who can generate the most donations prior to this Sunday, Dec. 8 and the Wolverines have already raised over $2,000 worth of toys and proceeds.
The SAAC is asking fans to bring toys to Saturday's men's basketball game, which starts at 7 p.m. Any fan that donates a toy will receive free admission to the game. Fans are encouraged to bring a new, unopened toy valued under $30 to the ticket office to receive a ticket to the game. The WAC school that wins the competition will be recognized the WAC Basketball Tournament in March.
UVU SAAC raised its portion so far at a talent show put on by the Wolverine student-athletes in a packed Ragan Theatre. The athletes showcased their talents through music, dance and comedy.
For those fans that cannot attend Saturday's men's basketball game but still wish to give, a donation can be left at any time before Sunday in the Toys for Tots drop box located just outside the UVU Athletics offices in the UCCU Center (next to the Ticket Office).
