Marie Hodson Glahn
Track & Field/Cross Country Inducted in 2008 Marie was an outstanding track and cross country athlete at UVU from 1998 to 200. She was the NJCAA National Champion in the 10,000 meter run in 2000 and earned All-America honors. She also won the Region Championship in the 10,000 meters. In cross country she finished fourth in the nation in both the 1998 and 1999 seasons, earning All-America honors both years. She led UVU to a 2nd-place team finish at nationals in 1998 and a 3rd-place finish in 1999. She also earned All-Region Cross Country honors both years, and was named UVU's cross country MVP her freshman and sophomore years. She was also named the school's Female Athlete of the Year for the 1999-2000 season. Marie was also an outstanding student. She earned an associate's degree at UVU, garnering NJCAA Academic All-America honors in 1999 and 2000. She also served as the UVU Student Athlete Council chairperson. Before coming to UVU, Marie lettered four years in cross country and track at Orem High School She was selected team MVP and Runner of the Year for the 1996-97 season. She was named All-Region three years in cross country and twice in track and was an All-State selection in cross country three times. After leaving UVU, Marie ran track and cross country for nearby Brigham Young University. She earned a bachelor's degree in recreation management and youth leadership at BYU and completed a special education licensure program as well. Marie took a job as the assistant track and cross country coach at Orem High school in 2001. In 2004 she became the head coach at Orem. She led her women's track team to two State Championship titles and two Region titles. In cross country her teams won two Region titles and finished second in the state twice. Along with her coaching duties, Marie also taught the severe unit of special education at Orem High and spent a year as the student council advisor. She was also a home/hospital teacher for Alpine School District for severely disabled twin girls. Glahn left the coaching ranks in 2008. She currently teaches special education seminary for the LDS Church at Orem High School. In 2003 she married Peter Glahn. Peter and Marie now have two children, Gracie and Daniel. Marie was born in Provo, Utah., the daughter of Richard and Connie Hodson. |
