Provo, Utah - The Utah Valley State track and field season got underway with the field events at the two-day BYU Invite.
Gavin Shaw fared best among Wolverine athletes as he placed second in the men's weight throw. Shaw heaved the weight 16.63 meters, just .30 meters behind the first-place thrower.
Megan Butler placed sixth (12.46 m) and Sarah Mcomber placed eighth (12.12 m) in the women's weight throw. Butler also finished eighth in the shot put.
Misi Makai took fifth in the men's shot put with a 13.15 meter throw. Shaw took sixth and and Jeremy Radmall took seventh for Utah Valley.
The Wolverines will continue Saturday at the BYU Invite with the track events throughout the day.
