SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah Valley University sprinter Nicholas Taylor finished first and second in the 200 meters and 100 meters respectively, at the Utah Spring Classic Friday at the McCarthey Family Track.

Taylor, a sophomore from Houston, won the 200 with the time of 21.31 seconds and placed second in the 100 with the time of 10.63.

Teammate Mark Jones placed first in the javelin with a mark of 177 feet, five inches at the Wildcat Outdoor Invitational Saturday at Stewart Stadium in Ogden, Utah.

In all, the Wolverines had a total of five top 5 finishes at the meet in Ogden, while tallying 20 top 5 finishes in Salt Lake City.

At Weber State, Maryn Pincock, who won the women's shot put (46-7.25) and the women's discus (161-04) at the Idaho Cup last week, placed second in the discus with a throw of 160-05.

In other notable finishes in Ogden, Kelli Roach Barnes (132-04) and Joni Warnick (127-11) placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the javelin, while Cole Eisenhour placed fifth in the 110 hurdles (16.03).

Eisenhour also placed third in the 110 hurdles (14.95) in Salt Lake City.

Natalie Young-Baker recorded a pair of top 5 finishes by placing third in the 100 meters (12.36) and the 200 meters (24.92).

Michael McPherson grabbed two top 5 finishes as well in the long jump (3rd, 7.10m) and the 100 meters (5th, 10.79), while Megan Burr placed fourth in the 100 hurdles (15.13) and the 100 meters (12.41).

The men's and women's 4x100 relay teams placed second at 42.25 and 46.93.

In other notable finishes: Logan Wood (4th, 5000 meters, 16:04.37); Nelson Orton (5th, 5000 meters, 17:12.95); Blake Adams (5th, 800 meters, 1:54.12); Marcus Pratt (T4th, pole vault, 4.60 meters); Krissy Knowles (3rd, 100 hurdles, 14.96); Mykah Heaton (3rd, 400 hurdles, 1:03.71); Sally Hansen, (4th, 400 hurdles, 1:04.25) and Autumn Robertson (5th, high jump, 1.55 meters).

The Wolverines are back in action for meets at Mt. Sac, Long Beach and Azusa Pacific Thursday-Saturday and Utah State Saturday.
