Track Finishes Strong in SUU Meet

Utah Valley track dominated in the sprint and jump events as the Wolverines went head-to-head against Southern Utah Thursday evening.

UV took first, fourth and fifth place in the women's 100 meters. Mariama Salifu added another pair of first-place finishes in the 100 and 200 meter races. Salifu ran a 12.01 in the 100 and a 24.74 in the 200. Tawny Judkins-Gause and Kari Snow-Tupou also finished in the top five in both the 100 and 200.

In the women's 400, Whitney Peck headed a group of five UV athletes with a third-place finish. Kim Scott finished second in the 800 meters, while Kirsten Barney continued her strong running in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a first place finish.

The Wolverine women also finished first in the 4 x 100 meter run while Snow-Tupou notched a second place finish in the 100 meter hurdles. Judkins-Gause also had a first place finish in the long jump, jumping 17-03.25.

On the men's side, Chris Fogt won the 100 meters while Danny Marini took second in the 200 meters. Mark Lott also had a first place finish with a time of 9:57.27 in the men's 3000 meter steeplechase.

Pole vaulter Matt Williams continued his strong season, jumping 15-06.00 while Zach Cook took first in the long jump, out-jumping his nearest competitor by nearly a foot with a jump of 22-00.75.

The Wolverines at BYU next weekend where the heptathletes and decathletes will compete April 25 and 26 before the rest of the athletes compete the 27 and 28.
