-- The Utah Valley University men's and women's indoor track teams opened the season one month earlier than they normally do Friday and Saturday, but the early start didn't seem to effect them.
"We've never raced this early," UVU track and field coach Scott Houle said. "Right now, we are running faster than we were in January (of last season) and it's a good sign to how our kids are running, throwing and jumping this early in the year."
Leading the pack for the Wolverines were Allah Laryea-Akrong, Nicholas Taylor and freshman Darian Sharp.
Laryea-Akrong won the 60m open at 6.80 seconds, the 60-meter dash at 6.78 and placed second in the 200m at 21.77. Taylor placed third in the 60m open (6.96), fifth in the 60m dash (6.95) and third in the 200m (21.82).
