Wolverines Gear Up for Snake River Invitational

OREM, Utah -- One week after opening the season with good performances at the BYU Invitational, the Utah Valley University men's and women's cross country teams will jump back into action Friday at Saturday at the Snake River Invitational hosted by Idaho State University. In addition to UVU and host Idaho State, Utah State, Weber State and Westminister will also compete in the event, which gets underway at noon Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday at Holt Arena. Mike McPherson had a solid opening meet at BYU by winning the long jump, 60m and 300m. He also finished third in the triple jump. Several other Wolverines placed first at BYU: Megan Burr won the 300m (41.38); Ali Shields won the triple jump with a jump of 35-07¼; Sally Hansen recorded a jump of 17 feet to win the women's long jump, and Joshua McCabe won the mile (4:11.07). Following the meet this weekend, the Wolverines will return to Idaho one week later to compete in the Boise State Invitational.
