DENVER - Utah Valley University's Ivie Gonsalves and Lauren Hicks have been named the Western Athletic Conference women's track and field Athletes of the Week, with Mike Fogt and Ryle Williams receiving the same honors on the men's side.

Gonsalves, a junior from Broomfield, Colo. (Legacy HS), won the 5000-meter run and took second in the 1500 at the UNLV Track Classic. Gonsalves took home the 5,000-meter run title with a time of 17:42.33 and her time of 4:45.43 in the 1500 was good enough for second in that race. The UVU junior's times in the two events currently rank her 1st in the nation on the outdoor side in the 5,000 and 15th in the 1,500.

Hicks, a freshman Gilbert, Ariz. (Gilbert HS), continued her strong 2014 campaign by breaking the UVU record in the triple jump at the UNLV Track Classic. Hicks' leap of 11.79m (38'-08.25") was also good enough to win the event at the UNLV Track Classic. The Wolverine freshman, who is currently ranked second in the nation in the triple jump for the outdoor season, now holds both indoor and outdoor records in the event for Utah Valley.

Fogt, a junior from Belmont, Mass. (Lone Peak HS), won the 100-meter dash before taking second in the 200 at the UNLV Track Classic this past weekend. Fogt, who is the younger brother of Chris Fogt, a bronze medalist for Team USA in the four-man bobsled in Sochi, won the 100 in 10.98 seconds and placed second in the 200 with a time of 22.26. Fogt's times in the two races currently rank him 15th the 200 and 16th in the 100, nationally, for the outdoor season.

Williams, a freshman from St. Joseph, Mo. (Savannah HS), set a new school record for the Wolverines in the high jump at UNLV's Track Classic on Saturday, as he won the event by clearing 2.15-meters or 7'-0.50". Williams' impressive mark currently leads the nation in outdoor competition. The freshman now holds both the indoor and outdoor high jump records for Utah Valley.
