Long Beach , CA - The Utah Valley State track team opened its outdoor season by competing in the 17th annual Long Beach Classic on Saturday. The Wolverines had impressive performances in many events.

Joe Bendoski broke the school record in the 5,000-meter race by running a time of 14:45.45. He finished second in the race while teammate Michael Vick finished third in the same event running 14:53.80.

Chris Fogt also won the 100 and 200-meter races. He ran a 10.79 in the 100 and a 21.88 in the 200.

On the women-s side, Bekah Poppinga ran a 17:44.01 in the 5,000, breaking her personal best mark by 20 seconds. Tawny Judkins ran a 12.64 in the 100 and a 25.07 in the 200.
