Weber State Invite Schedule of Events

OREM, Utah - The Utah Valley University men's and women's track & field teams will remain in the Beehive State this weekend as they'll head north on I-15 to compete at the University of Utah on Friday and Weber State University on Saturday.

Friday's Utah Spring Classic will begin at 2:30 p.m. at the McCarthey Family Track & Field in Salt Lake City, while Saturday's Weber State Invitational will get underway at 10 a.m. at Stewart Stadium in Ogden.

The Wolverines will enter the meets off of a stellar outing at the UVU Collegiate Invitational on March 28 at the Hal Wing Track & Field in Orem. At that meet, Utah Valley broke two more school records, as junior Michael McPherson set a new UVU record in the 400-meter with a time of 47.59 and freshman Lauren Hicks once again broke the school's triple jump one with a mark of 11.88m or 38'-11.75". The two along with junior distance runner Ivie Gonsalves were all named WAC Track Athletes of the Week following the meet as Gonsalves won the 5000m run with a time of 17:29.78

In all, Utah Valley won a total of five events and recorded 24 top-three finishes at the UVU Collegiate. Besides McPherson and Gonsalves' titles in the 400 and 5000, respectively, senior Chris Dorton won the 3000m steeplechase (9:26.51), freshman Samantha Reeves took home the 100m dash (12.42) and McPherson also won the long jump (7.05m or 23'-01.50").

McPherson's blazing time in the 400m two weeks ago is also good enough to lead the WAC, while sophomore Aisha Graham paces the league in the 800 (2:12.54), sophomore Jason Lynch (14:40.99) and Gonsalves (17:04.24) are tops in the 5000, Dorton (9:13.68) and senior Brooke Hodson-Davies (10:27.98) pace the league in the 3000m steeplechase and freshman Ryle Williams (2.15m) and senior Autumn Robertson (1.66m) lead in the high jump.

Admission will be free of charge at both meets and for a complete schedule of events as well as more information for the Utah Spring Classic Click Here. Also Click Here for the Weber State Invitational.
