Women in 3rd; Men in 5th After Day 1 of Independent Championships

Greeley , CO - The Utah Valley State women-s track team is in third place and the men are fifth after the first day of the Independent Track Championships.

On the women-s side Kirsten Barney placed second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:32.53. Bekah Poppinga was fourth in the 10,000 at 39:52.52. Karinne Bentley was the top finisher in the preliminaries in the 1500 meter run. She ran a 4:55.12.

On the guys side, Chase Englestead was second in the 3000 steeplechase at 9:29.34. Mark Lott finished fourth in the same event. Michael Vick was third in the 10,000 meter run. He ran a 32:.28.40 in the event.

After day one North Dakota State men-s and women-s teams are in sitting in first place.
