Scott Houle just completed his fifth and most successful season as head coach of the Utah Valley University cross country and track programs. Houle capped off the year as he led his men's and women's track and field teams both to Great West titles at the inaugural GWC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Houle also brought home another title in the 2008-09 season, as he led his women's team to the championships while his men's team finished second at the first-ever Great West Championship that Utah Valley participated in as UVU hosted the GWC Cross Country Championships in Nov. 2008.

Houle was regonized for his efforts by his peers as he was named both the men's and women's Great West Conference Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year in 2009. Houle was also named the 2008 GWC Cross Country Women's Coach of the Year.

In the spring of 2008 Houle was named the National Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Track and Field Coach of the Year after his teams swept the NAC Outdoor Championships held in Provo, Utah.

In Houle's first year he coached 12 Division I Independent All-Americans in track. His girls track team finished third at the 2005 Division I Independent championships in the spring. In cross country, Houle guided the Wolverine women runners to a fourth place finish at the Independent Championships while the men finished fifth.

Houle came to UVU via Orem High School. While at Orem from 1993-2004 he was the head cross country, track and women's basketball coaches. During that time his girls basketball team played for three state championships and his cross country and track teams finished second 10 times. In 2002 the Orem High girls cross country team won the state championship.

Prior to coaching at Orem, Houle was an assistant women's basketball, track and cross country coach at Mountain View in 1992-93. In 1991-92 he was an assistant coach in women's basketball, track and cross country at SUU and in 1989-91 he was an assistant basketball coach at Cedar City High School.

Houle graduated from Southern Utah in 1992 with Bachelors in Physical Education and Special Education. In 2002 he got his Masters from BYU in Administration.

Houle graduated from Dugway High School in 1988. While attending Dugway he lettered in football, track, tennis and basketball. He was the region champion in No. 1 doubles in tennis and the region champion in the 400-meter in track.

Houle is married to Jana Houle. They have two kids in Skotie and Brylie. Outside of coaching, Houle enjoys spending time with his wife and kids and being outside. Coaching runs in the Houle family.

His brother Mark coaches track and cross country in Sebeka, Minnesota. Dave Houle is the head track, cross country and women's basketball coach at Mountain View High School in Orem. Dave has won 66 state championships, seven national championships and is a Nike coach. Kirk Houle is an assistant track and cross country coach at Mountain View and has been key in the success off track and cross country programs. Eric Houle is the head track and cross country coach at SUU.
