ST. PAUL, Minn. - Making drastic improvements from last season, the Utah Valley cross country team ran well at the Roy Griak Invitational.

"I am very excited with the results at this competitive meet," UV head coach Scott Houle said. "Both the men and the women made huge improvements from last year."

Behind Ayisha Mitchell's 17th place finish, the UV women finished 11th out of 26 teams. In the six kilometer race, the Wolverines finished ahead of strong cross country schools such as Kansas and Indiana. Mitchell finished with a time of 21:57.

Also placing on the women's side were Karinne Bentley (67th), Ashley Evans (80th), Trisha Wright (83rd) and Melissa Baird (98th).

The men's team finished 17th of 23 teams in the eight kilometer race. Chase Englestead led all men runners with a 69th-place finish. Danny Moody, Derick Moody, Jake Buhler and Danny Barney also placed.

The UV runners will return to action in two weeks when they head to Cedar City to run against SUU.
