Wolverine Women Win Utah Fall Twilight Meet

Salt Lake City, UT- The Utah Valley State women's cross country team had another impressive performance on Friday at the Utah Fall Twilight Meet. As a team the Wolverine women won the 6K event, beating Air Force, Utah, Nevada and Westminster. Last week the Utah Valley women runners finished 15th out of 31 teams at the nationally acclaimed Roy Griak Invitational. The Wolverines had six runners place in the 20, with sophomore Karinne Bentley placing first at 22:37.9. Freshman Mary Nothum was second at 22:49 and senior Bekah Poppinga was third with a time of 22:50. Kirsten Barney finished eighth, Ashley Evans 11th and Kim Rowberry was 17th. "Our girls had an unbelievable race," Utah Valley State associate head coach Kirke Adamson said. "They just had a great meet. We are quite ecstatic." In the men's 8K competition, the Wolverines placed second with Air Force winning the event. Sophomore Chase Englestead finished third with a time of 25:43.4 while freshman Mike Felix was 16th. The coaching staff rested two of its top runners in Joe Bendoski and Jacob Buhler. "It was a good day all around," Adamson said. "We are happy with the results both individually and as a team
