Wolverines Travel to SUU Saturday

OREM, Utah -- The Utah Valley University men's and women's cross country teams will compete in their final regular season meet of the season Saturday when they travel to Cedar City for the SUU Invitational.

The women's team, led by Shelise Walker, who finished 20th, placed 15th overall at the Stanford Invitational two weeks in Palo Alto.

Walker, who was named the Great West Conference Runner of the Week, crossed the line in 21 minutes, 22 seconds in the 6K race, while Cliff Nielson paced the men with a 45th-place finish. Overall, the men placed 11th.

In addition to UVU and host Southern Utah, Idaho State, Weber State and Dixie State will participate in the meet, which will take place at Cedar Ridge Golf Course.

The men's 6K is set to begin at 9 a.m., followed by the women's 4K at 9:45 a.m.

Following the meet Saturday, the Wolverines will participate in the Great West Conference championships Oct. 29 in Grand Forks, N.D.
