Buhler and Bentley Named September Scholar Athletes
Oct. 10, 2006 Orem, UT- Utah Valley State cross country athletes Jacob Buhler and Karinne Bentley have been named the Male and Female Scholar Athletes for the month of September. Buhler is a sophomore from Military, North Dakota. He finished the spring semester with a 4.0 GPA and he carries a 3.9 overall GPA. Buhler is one of two returning runners on the men's cross country team this year. He has helped spark the team to respectable finishes at BYU, Utah, Idaho State and the nationally acclaimed Roy Griak meet in Minnesota. He had a top 20 finish at BYU and ran a 27:18 at Roy Griak. To open the season he finished sixth in a 6K race hosted by Idaho State. Bentley is a sophomore from St. George, Utah. She had a spring semester GPA of 3.94 and carries a 3.8 overall GPA. Bentley most recently won the women's competition of the Utah Fall Twilight Meet where she beat out runners from Utah, Nevada, Air Force, and Westminster. In the 6K event she finished with a time of 22:37.9. She finished 10th at the BYU Autumn Classic, fifth at the Idaho State Invitational and helped lead the Wolverines to a 15th place finish out of 31 teams at the Roy Griak Invitational.
