OREM, Utah --
Utah Valley University's cross country teams are set to compete at the NCAA Mountain Region Championships on Friday at Schneiter's Riverside Golf Course in Riverdale.

Hosted by Weber State, the men's 10K begins at noon with the women's 6K set for 1:15 p.m.

"Jason Lynch and Trac Norris, for the men, and Darian Sharp and Brooke Hodson-Davies have all tinkered with that level and have a shot to get into that top 25," said head coach Scott Houle.

"I feel really good about where the kids are at. For most teams at this point it's survival of the fittest or survival of the healthiest. This region is loaded with good teams."

The Wolverine men, coming off of a WAC Championship on Nov. 2 in Seattle, will be running against seven teams ranked in the top 30 in the nation including No. 1 Colorado and No. 2 Northern Arizona. The men's team is ranked 14th in the latest regional rankings.

The women's race includes 8th-ranked New Mexico and No. 10 Colorado.

The top two teams and top 25 individuals will all qualify for the national championship on Nov. 23 in Terre Haute, Ind.
