Casey Nelson is entering his first season as an assistant baseball coach at Utah Valley University. Nelson spent the 2006 season as a volunteer assistant under Steve Gardner and the 2007 season at BYU as the Director of Baseball Operations.

Nelson began his collegiate playing career at Utah Valley in 2003, the school's final junior college season. He also played at Salt Lake Community College in 2004 before finishing his career with two seasons at BYU.

As a senior at BYU, he batted .351 and was named Second Team All-Mountain West Conference.

Nelson prepped at Spanish Fork High School in Spanish Fork, Utah, where he was coached by his father Jim. He was named a TPX All-American by Collegiate Baseball while at Spanish Fork and was also a first team all-region and all-state selection three times.
