Cedar City, Utah - Austin Heaps' two-out double in the ninth sent Utah Valley State to its first win of the 2007 baseball season, 3-2 over Southern Utah on a windy afternoon in Cedar City.

The Wolverines also led the second game of the doubleheader 4-2 in the top of the 8th before the game was suspended due to darkness. The teams will try to finish the game either tomorrow at 2pm or before Saturday's finale at Noon.

Heaps drove in two runs in the game for his first two collegiate runs batted in. The double scored Derrick Thomas, who led off the ninth with a walk.

Marcus Moore earned the win on the mound after coming on for Bryan Smith, who pitched 7.2 strong innings for the Wolverines.

Southern Utah had the tying run at third with two out in the ninth but Moore got Bucky Aona to ground out to second to end the game.

Smith allowed two runs on four hits while striking out five and improved his ERA to 2.70 in three starts this season.
