SALT LAKE CITY -- Despite leading 3-1 into the bottom of the sixth inning, Utah Valley University surrendered six late runs in a 7-3 loss at Utah at Smith's Ballpark on Tuesday night.

The Wolverines (5-15) took a 2-0 lead in the fourth on a two-out single by Craig Brinkerhoff that scored both Greyson Bogden and Sean Moysh. Utah got one run back in the bottom of the inning after an error, on of four Wolverines errors on the day, prolonged the inning and allowed a run to score.

Beau Kallas tripled in the fifth and later scored on a wild pitch to push the Wolverine lead to 3-1. In the sixth another UVU error gave Utah extra life and allowed two more unearned runs to come in to score and tie the game at 3-3.

The seventh inning was the decisive one for the Utes (9-10), who scored three times in the inning on four singles and a sacrifice fly. Utah added another insurance run in the eighth to make it 7-3.

Dylan Drachler (1-0) got the win for Utah, retiring all 11 hitters he faced including striking out the side in order in the ninth to seal the win. Patrick Wolfe (0-1) took the loss for Utah Valley.

The Wolverines were limited to just three hits on the day with Moysh getting one of those in addition to Brinkerhoff and Kallas.

The Wolverines travel to Dallas Baptist for a series beginning Friday night at 5:30 p.m. MT. The series also includes games on Saturday and Sunday before UVU hits Las Vegas next Tuesday for a single game at UNLV.
