Orem, Utah - A seven-run sixth inning propelled Utah Valley to a 12-6 come-from-behind win over Binghamton in the seven-inning first game of a doubleheader.

The Wolverines (9-17) sent 14 batters to the plate in the sixth inning that included six hits and a pair of triples. Derrick Thomas led the way for UV, going 3-for-3 from the plate with a home run, two runs scored and a pair of RBI. Josh Hinckley went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles.

Justin Smucker led Binghamton (6-7) from the plate, going 2-for-4 with a homer and four RBI.

The Wolverines drew first blood, jumping to a 3-0 with a run in the first and two in the second. The Bearcats answered in the top of the third with the three-run shot off Smucker's bat to tie the score.

Binghamton extended its lead to 6-3 in the top of the fifth after scoring two in the fourth and one in the fifth frame.

In the bottom of the fifth, Utah Valley began to chip away at the lead. The Wolverines scored two runs behind Thomas' solo homer and a Jace Brinkerhoff two-out RBI double that hit off the top of the left field wall to pull within one run at 6-5.

After Binghamton was held without runs in the top of the sixth, the UV bats exploded in the bottom of the inning.

The Wolverines tied the game after Keiki Albino led the inning off with a triple and scored on a squeeze play off a Tyler Garretson bunt. UV took the lead two batters later when Eli Slesk got a run-scoring triple.

The Wolverines added five additional runs, including RBI from Austin Heaps, Brinkerhoff, Hinckley and Albino. The final run was scored on a balk with bases loaded.

Ryan Chadwick picked up the win for the Wolverines, improving to 1-1. Khalid Afify (1-1) took the loss for the Bearcats.
