Orem, Utah - Marcus Moore had another stellar outing, striking out 13 batters while pitching his third complete game in leading Utah Valley to a 6-4 victory over Utah.

The Wolverines (22-27) tied the season series with the Utes (21-26) at three games apiece. Each team won all of their three home games.

Moore threw 149 pitches and scattered nine hits over the nine innings. Austin Heaps and Derrick Thomas led UV batters with each delivering a two-run home run. Heaps was 2-for-4 from the plate while Thomas went 2-for-2 and pushed his batting average to .404 on the season.

Utah jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Corey Shimada hit a one-out, opposite field home run. The Wolverines bounced back in their side of the first when Heaps matched Shimada's homer with a two-run bomb to put UV ahead 2-1.

The Wolverines added to their lead in bottom of the third when Heaps drove home his second run of the game on a sharply hit infield single.

UV maintained a 3-1 lead until the fifth. Utah scored a run in the top half of the inning on a Dustin Hennis RBI single that scored Shimada from third. Utah Valley had an answer in the bottom of the frame as the Wolverines scored three to extend their lead to 6-2. UV scored on a RBI single by Eli Slesk and a two-run homer off the bat of Thomas, his 11th of the season.

Utah came back with a run in the top of the sixth, scoring on back-to-back doubles. Moore was able to get out of the jam without further damage after Jay Brossman grounded into a fielders choice before Hennis struck out swinging to end the inning.

The Utes added a run in the top of the sixth to cut UV's lead to 6-3. Utah scored another run in the eighth on a Brossman RBI single.

Prior to the game four Utah Valley seniors were honored: Thomas, Turreal Moore, Keiki Albino and Slesk.
