Utah Valley University baseball is nominated in three categories in the Second Annual Governor's State of Sports Awards and a fan vote will decide the winners.

The 2012 team that led the nation in winning percentage, team batting and boasted a 32-game winning streak, is nominated for Team of the Year; Eric Madsen is nominated for Coach of the Year and Goose Kallunki is up for Male College Athlete of the Year.

Madsen earned his third straight Great West Conference Coach of the Year Award while leading UVU to its third straight regular season and tournament titles and a No. 29 ranking in the final NCBWA poll. Kallunki was named a first-team All-American after leading the nation in RBIs and setting a school record with 18 home runs. Kallunki, who was drafted by the San Diego Padres and is preparing for Spring Training, was among the nation leaders in a number of other categories as well.
