OREM, Utah --
After playing 16 straight road games to open the 2014 season, Utah Valley University opens at home against North Dakota in what will also be the opening WAC series for both teams. The series is scheduled for 6 p.m. starts on Friday and Saturday and a noon first pitch on Sunday.

The Wolverines (4-12) played four games over an extended weekend, three at Long Beach State and one at Cal State Northridge. After getting shutout in the opener against the Dirtbags, the Wolverines led early before a pair of big innings late were costly in the middle game in a 7-3 loss.

In the finale, Jordy Hart went 5-for-5 in a 13-8 win over Long Beach State. Hart had a three-run home run and five RBIs as UVU scored a season-high 13 runs on 16 hits. On Monday, the Wolverines lost 7-1 to Cal State Northridge.

North Dakota (0-8) lost four games last week at Saint Louis and has played a limited schedule so far this season. UND is an affiliate member of the WAC after moving with Utah Valley from the Great West Conference last season.

The Wolverines lost to North Dakota in last season’s GWC Tournament. It was the first tournament loss in four years for UVU and the first time UND had beaten the Wolverines in 12 tries.

Utah Valley plays at Utah on Tuesday before a three-game series at Dallas Baptist starting Friday, March 21.
