Baseball to play four-game series at Cal State Northridge

OREM, Utah -- The Utah Valley University baseball team travels to the West Coast this week for a four-game series at Cal State Northridge starting Friday afternoon from Matador Field. All four games on the the weekend can be heard live on WolverineGreen.com.

The Wolverines (9-12) and Matadors (6-12) will play single games on Friday at 4 p.m. MT and Sunday at 3 p.m. MT around a Saturday doubleheader that starts at noon MT.

Both teams are coming off of losses in their respective midweek games on Tuesday. UVU fell in 11 innings at Utah, 3-2, and Cal State Northridge lost 5-3 to a future WAC opponent for the Wolverines, CSU Bakersfield.

This marks the first meetings between the two programs and just the second series in program history for Utah Valley against a school from the Big West Conference. The Wolverines played at Cal State Fullerton last season in a three-game series and have also played single games against Cal Poly and earlier this season against UC Riverside. UVU is 0-5 all-time against the Big West.

Utah Valley and CSUN have both played series against Saint Mary's and Sacramento State this season with similar results. UVU won two of three last week at Saint Mary's while the Matadors won three of four at home against the Gaels to open the season. Both teams lost two of three in series' at Sacramento State.

The Wolverines will have all of next week off before playing at BYU on Tuesday, April 2. They'll then travel to Newark, N.J. to open the final Great West Conference season at NJIT on April 5.
