OREM, Utah - Two Utah Valley State baseball players have been named to the Division-I Independent All-Academic Team for their performance in the classroom and on the field. Junior Brad Hales and senior Brady Drake have balanced impressive GPA's with a full slate of college baseball and families at home.
Hales, a junior second-baseman from Salem, Utah, holds a 3.60 GPA in Biology and has started 42 of the Wolverines' 46 games. He is hitting .254 with six doubles, a home run and 23 runs batted in.
Drake is a left-handed pitcher from Layton, Utah and sports a 3.48 GPA and majors in Business Management with an emphasis in International Business. On the mound, Drake is tied for the team lead with two complete games and is second on the team with three wins. He was also named Utah Valley State's Academic Male Athlete of the Year in April at the school's year end awards banquet. This is the second year in a row that Drake was named to the team.
