OREM, Utah -- Just days removed from being named Great West Conference Pitcher of the Week, UVU senior pitcher Preston Olson has garnered two more national honors.

Olson, who is 7-0 on the season with a 3.26 ERA, was named West Region Pitcher of the Week by College Baseball Insider and was placed on the College Baseball Hall of Fame’s National All-Star Lineup for the week of May 15.

The recognition comes on the heels of Olson’s record-setting performance last weekend at NYIT, where the righty threw a complete game, two-hit shutout and struck out 16 Bears hitters. The 16 strikeouts are a new school record for UVU.

This is the second time a Wolverine has earned West Region honors from College Baseball Insider, as fellow senior Goose Kallunki was named Hitter of the Week last week.
