Mangum Inks Deal With Milwaukee Brewers
June 11, 2012
OREM, Utah -- Utah Valley University pitcher Taylor Mangum has signed a free agent deal with the Milwaukee Brewers and reported to Arizona on Sunday. Mangum, who went 6-0 for the Wolverines in 2012, is expected to begin his career in either the Arizona League or the Pioneer League in Helena, Montana, where he'll have the chance to return to Brent Brown Ballpark against the Orem Owlz. Mangum just completed his sophomore season of eligibility at UVU, helping the team to its third straight Great West Conference regular season and tournament titles and a 47-12 record. His wins included BYU, Northern Colorado and in the Great West Tournament against Houston Baptist. He joins Goose Kallunki, who was drafted by the San Diego Padres last week, as the two UVU players to have signed pro contracts. Kallunki will begin his professional career in Eugene, Oregon, in the Northwest League or in the Arizona League.
