Mark Coffman Position: Assistant Coach Experience: 2nd season Alma Mater: Western New Mexico State, '80

Mark Coffman enters his second year on coach Dick Hunsaker's staff, and brings 19 years of college coaching experience with him. Prior to joining the Wolverines, he was an assistant coach at Weber State, Oakland University, Texas Tech, Youngstown State, South Alabama, and Alabama A&M.

While serving at Youngstown State from 1996-98, Coffman was the program's recruiting coordinator. His list of accomplishments with the Penguins included: first 20-win season in Division I history, most conference wins in a season, top recruiting class in the conference in 1998, top defensive team in the Mid-Continent Conference and an 87 percent graduation rate with a 2.7 team GPA.

From 1991-96, Coffman was the recruiting coordinator for Weber State where he helped lead the team to two Big Sky Conference Championships as well as the 1995 NCAA Tournament. While at Weber, the Wildcats boasted four 20-win seasons in a row and produced two Big Sky Conference Player of the Year selections, 11 all-conference players and two all-region selections while producing the school's best winning percentage in a five-year period. Coffman's last recruiting class at WSU ended up upseting North Carolina before losing to Florida in the NCAA Tournament.

A native of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Coffman helped lead Oakland University (Rochester, MI) to the NCAA Division II Tournament while an assistant from 1986-91.

From 1999-2002 Coffman helped lead South Alabama to two Sun Belt Conference regular season championships, which included two NIT apperances.

Overall, in 18 years of coaching (13 at the D-I level) at the collegiate level Coffman has helped produce 12 teams with 20-win seasons.

Coffman graduated from Western New Mexico State in 1980 with a bachelor's in physical education-health and received his master's in education administration from New Mexico State in 1985. He is a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches and was president of the assistant coaches from 1996-98.
