Wolverines Beat Mavericks in Exhibition

The official season opener will be next Friday, Nov. 14 at home against Northern Arizona

OREM, Utah - The Utah Valley University men's basketball team beat Mesa State 95-77 Thursday night in the Wolverines' lone exhibition game of the season.

"Mesa State is a very competitive team," UVU head coach Dick Hunsaker said. "It was a good exhibition match for us because of the variety of matchups our players had to take on. Our team played hard tonight. Our senior leaders were terrific, and out new kids showed some composure in their first game."

Utah Valley shot 55 percent from the field and 52 percent from behind the arc. Four Wolverines scored in double figures led by senior guard Ryan Toolson who had 27 on the night.

UVU's first game will be at home Friday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. against Northern Arizona as entertainment for Employee Appreciation Night. Employees of Utah Valley University and up to eight guests receive free admission to the game.
