OREM, Utah - Utah Valley University will play five of its final seven regular season games at home in the UCCU Center beginning Thursday against Seattle University at 7:05 p.m. in the UCCU Center.
The Wolverines (14-8, 8-1) have won nine of their last 10 games overall and sit atop the WAC standings with a two-game lead in the loss column. In the earlier meeting this year, Utah Valley edged the Redhawks (11-11, 3-6), 52-51, on Jan. 19 at KeyArena.
"It was a hard-fought game that we were very fortunate to come out on top in," UVU head coach Dick Hunsaker said. "Seattle has always been a very challenging matchup for us. The pressure and the multiple looks they give on defense are very disruptive."
In UVU's one-point win over the Redhawks, Mitch Bruneel sank two free throws with 2.0 seconds on the clock to lift the Wolverines to the win. Bruneel scored a career-high 20 points and also grabbed nine rebounds in the win.
Last week Utah Valley played just once, at Grand Canyon on Feb. 6, a 79-68 Wolverine win behind a team and season-high 29 points from Holton Hunsaker. The senior point guard shot 8-for-14 from the field and 4-for-7 from the 3-point line, and was also a perfect 9-for-9 from the foul line. He scored 12 straight Wolverine points in the final five minutes to help hold of the second-place Antelopes.
Seattle split two home games last week starting with a 21-point win, 83-62, over Texas-Pan American on Thursday. New Mexico State, which is tied with GCU for second in the WAC, defeated the Redhawks on Saturday, 92-77. Isiah Umipig led Seattle with 24 points and leads all WAC players with an average of 18.8 per game.
The Wolverines will host Idaho on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. before hitting the road for the final time next week on a Midwest trip through Chicago and Kansas City.
