OREM, Utah -- As the Great West Conference basketball schedule enters its stretch run, Utah Valley University will host Houston Baptist University on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. MT in the first of two games this week that will close out the home portion of the 2011-12 schedule.
The game can be heard live on 960 AM the Zone and the first 200 fans will receive posters of senior Kevin Woods, who will sign autographs following the game.
Utah Valley returns to the court after a 10-day layoff with the nations fourth-longest winning streak, having won 11 in a row. Houston Baptist has won two of three including a 75-68 win in its last game over NJIT.
The Huskies and Wolverines played a tightly contested game in Houston on Feb. 4., which UVU escaped with a 68-66 win. Isiah Williams scored 16 to lead Utah Valley while Ben Aird had 13 points and 14 rebounds. Terry Bembry led HBU with 17 points.
"We were very fortunate at their place a few weeks ago. I thought they played as hard as anyone we've faced this season," said UVU head coach Dick Hunsaker. "They're coming off of a real good win against NJIT and I know were going to be in for a tough battle."
On Saturday, league-leader UVU will host second-place Texas-Pan American on Senior Night in the final home game of the year. Five seniors; Rory Fannon, Geddes Robinson, Keith Thompson, Isiah Williams and Kevin Woods will all be honored prior to the game.
The Broncs are 5-2 in league play, have won four straight and will play their only game of the week on Saturday against UVU. UTPA also plays on Monday at North Dakota.
