Men's Basketball Selected to Face Weber State in CIT
March 11, 2012 OREM, Utah -- The Utah Valley University men's basketball team will play in the postseason for the first time in the school's NCAA Division I era. UVU has been selected to play in the CollegeInsider.com (CIT) Postseason Tournament and will face in-state foe Weber State on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Dee Events Center in Ogden. "This marks a monumental day for our men's basketball program and our athletic department as a whole," said UVU director of athletics Mike Jacobsen. "To have an opportunity to play in the postseason is our goal, and for the first time we will get that chance. This is wonderful for our players and coaches, fans, students and university community." Utah Valley -- back-to-back Great West Conference regular season champions - enters Tuesday's game at 20-12 overall in a season that has included a 13-game winning streak and a 9-1 record the Great West. "We're thrilled," said Wolverine coach Dick Hunsaker. "Our season-long goal has been to play beyond the conference tournament and in the postseason." Utah Valley and Weber State have met four times with each team winning twice on its home floor. The last meeting came Dec. 28, 2005. UVU is in its ninth year of NCAA DI athletics and only its third season of NCAA postseason eligibility. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. More ticket information will be available soon on WeberStateSports.com.
