OREM, Utah - Participants at UVU Coach Dick Hunsaker's Summer Basketball Camp got a treat on Wednesday when former UVU star and NBA prospect Ryan Toolson stopped by. Toolson, who has been showcasing his talents for NBA teams recently, coached the campers during the annual camp's morning session.
On Tuesday, Toolson worked out for the Utah Jazz in preparation for this Thursday's NBA Draft. Prior to that, he had an individual workout for the Sacramento Kings and a group workout in front of 23 teams last week hosted by the New Jersey Nets.
"I feel really good about how my recent workouts went," Ryan Toolson said. "I was very confident going in and I think I made a pretty good impact of what I can do."
At Coach Hunsaker's camp, Toolson showed the campers numerous shooting drills that he participated in at his most recent workout for the Jazz.
He talked about how hard he has worked at perfecting his game and his jump shot and the importance of setting and working towards goals.
Toolson also answered numerous questions and took time to sign autographs.
"Ryan has worked extremely hard since we finished our season in March," Hunsaker said. "He is in great shape, he has been working out with a personal trainer and has done everything he personally can do to help prepare himself for a shot at the next level."
In Toolson's workout for the Jazz earlier this week, he showcased what a pure shooter he truly is as he made 43-of-50 20-foot shots and was 21-for-25 from the behind the NBA 3-point line.
"I watched his workout with the Jazz and Ryan did as well or if not better than anyone there. Ryan is a lot like Ronnie Price. If given an opportunity he can have a very successful NBA career as a shooting specialist, kind of like Steve Kerr," Coach Hunsaker added.
