OREM, Utah -- Alexander's CEO Jeff Alexander and COO Doyle Mortimer visited Utah Valley University on this week to present a check for $20,000 to benefit the men's basketball program and its summer scholarship fund.
The money was raised at the Utah Golf Marathon on June 19, a 54-hole challenge on a more than 12-hour day. Alexander presented the check to UVU head coach Dick Hunsaker along with director of athletics Vince Otoupal.
"Alexander's continued support of Utah Valley University means a great deal to our athletic program. Being successful, especially in college athletics, is a team game and we are fortunate to have Alexander's on our roster as a part of our team," said Otoupal. "Jeff Alexander has his fingerprints all over this campus and we're thrilled at what he and his staff have done for our men's basketball program. This scholarship helps where it matters most, in aiding our student-athletes on the path to receiving their degrees."
Hunsaker attended the June 19 event to thank and speak to those in attendance. He talked about the importance of community support for the athletic program. The scholarship allows players to attend school year-round and helps keep them on the path to graduation.
"Summer school scholarships are a critical component for our men's basketball program," Hunsaker said. "This is a really special, special contribution from Jeff Alexander and Alexander Printing."
In a recent column on his company's website, Alexander talked about why he supported UVU men's basketball: "UVU players might have a good basketball career, but if they leave school without a degree, they may be unable to find a job that could support a family or put them on a path to life-long success."
