OREM, Utah -- Justin Baker, a former forward at Utah Valley University, will play professionally for the Vaerlose Basketball Klub of the Danish Basketball League in Denmark.
Baker played three seasons at Utah Valley for Coach Dick Hunsaker, and helped the team to a Great West Conference championship as a senior. He graduated from Utah Valley University in April of 2011 with a degree in communications with an emphasis in public relations.
"It is a blessing and an honor to play basketball at the professional ranks," Baker said. "Basketball ends for everyone at some point in their lives and I'm fortunate that it hasn't ended for me."
"It's exciting for Justin to play professionally at the international level," said UVU head coach Dick Hunsaker.
Baker played in 87 games over three seasons in Orem, averaging just less than eight points and five rebounds per game. He was named the Great West Conference Sixth Man of the Year as a senior in 2010-11.
Vaerlose is located on the outskirts of Copenhagen, the capitol of Denmark. Baker departs for Denmark on Sept. 1.
After finishing at Utah Valley, Baker played one season for the Richmond Rockets of the American Basketball Association in Richmond, California, in the Bay Area. There, he helped the Rockets to the playoffs and earned a spot on the ABA All-Star Team.
