SHENZHEN, China - Some hot shooting in the third quarter helped propel Utah Valley University to its second straight win in Shenzhen, China, defeating the Adelaide 36ers, 83-75.
The Wolverines made seven 3-pointers during the third quarter, turning a 42-41 halftime deficit into a 67-62 lead after three against the team from Australia's National Basketball League (NBL). UVU held off a Adelaide throughout the final 10-minute frame.
"What a nice effort. That was the definition of fun for our team," said Coach Dick Hunsaker. "We continue to have positive play individually and collectively."
Holton Hunsaker made three triples in the third, connected on five in the game and finished with a game-high 21 points. Mitch Bruneel and Zach Nelson scored 13 apiece, Chad Ross added 11 and Keawe Enos scored all 10 of his points in the second half.
Ross also hauled in 11 rebounds for UVU, which closes out play in Shenzhen on Sunday at 2:15 p.m. China time against a club from Lithuania.
For Adelaide, Daniel Johnson finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds and former NBA center Luke Schenscher scored 16.
