OREM, Utah - For the third year in a row, Utah Community Credit Union representatives paid a visit to the UVU men's basketball team to lend the team financial advice.
Senior VP for Marketing & Development Brad Norton and Director of Business Development Karen Tebbs were both on campus, in the aptly named UCCU Center, and spoke with the 2011-12 Wolverines about how making good money choices now will help them reach a financially sound future.
"It was important to learn how to be financially stable during and after basketball," said senior Kevin Woods. "The presentation meant a great deal to me."
"I received some great advice," said sophomore Taylor Brown. "One of the interesting things I learned is that you should save before investing. I consider myself fortunate to have heard many ways to help keep my financial life under control."
Norton and Tebbs talked specifically about building good credit scores, investing, saving, good debt vs bad debt and about credit cards.
"Brad and I look forward to this every year," Tebbs said. "It adds a personal touch to finance. We would like to get them off to a great start in their financial lives. We also share stories that have worked and others that didn't in our own lives. These young men are seeking university education to get started and we like to educate them financially so they can become assets to their future communities."
