Wolverine Basketball Gets Practice Underway Today
Oct. 14, 2011
OREM, Utah - Coming off of a 19-win season and a Great West Conference championship, the Utah Valley University men's basketball team begins official practice today for the upcoming 2011-12 season.
The Wolverines return four starters including the program's first All-American, Isiah Williams, who was also named the Great West's Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year.
Ben Aird, Holton Hunsaker and Geddes Robinson also return after starting all 30 games in 2010-11. Seniors Rory Fannon, Keith Thompson and Kevin Woods and junior Zach Jones also return from last year's team.
"We have a lot of returning faces and should be able to accelerate our preseason practices," said head coach Dick Hunsaker, last year's GWC Coach of the Year. "We have a high level of anticipation for our season amongst the team and the university community. Our success will hinge greatly on our health and the development of our depth."
The season tips at home on Nov. 11 against Simpson University before a road contest at the University of Houston on Nov. 14. The schedule also includes two nationally televised home games - UMKC (Nov. 19) and Wyoming (Jan. 3) - which can both be seen on Fox College Sports.
