FAYATTEVILLE, Ark. -- Utah Valley University basketball will play its first contest against a school from the SEC when the Wolverines and Arkansas tip at 7 p.m. CT on Tuesday night at Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville. The game can be heard live on 960 AM the Zone in Utah and streamed live on WolverineGreen.com.
The Wolverines are 3-1, the best start since beginning 4-0 in 2008-09, after a 58-54 win over UMKC on Saturday in front of 6,437 fans in the UCCU Center.
Isiah Williams scored all 17 of his points in the second half after playing just four scoreless minutes in the first half due to foul trouble. Williams, who leads the team with 17.3 ppg, also hit two free throws in the closing seconds to put the game out of reach.
Keith Thompson had a career-high 16 and has set new highs in scoring in each of the last two games.Geddes Robinson had 13 rebounds and is averaging 11.3 per game so far this season.
The Razorbacks enter Tuesday's contest with a 2-1 record including a win over UVU's next opponent, Oakland University, last week. Their lone loss came last Friday against Houston.
"Arkansas is a team that is going to apply a lot of pressure on the ball and one pass away. They're going to extend the court to 94 feet. They really try to scatter your daily practice routines with their style of play," said UVU head coach Dick Hunsaker. "Head coach Mike Anderson is obviously one of the best in the business and he's doing a great job of getting his system installed."
Following Tuesday's game, UVU will travel to Michigan to face Oakland University the day after Thanksgiving.
