OREM, Utah - Utah Valley welcomes Portland State to the UCCU Center on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. MT on Take a Kid to the Game Night and all kids 12 and under can get in for free. The game can be heard live on 960 AM the Zone and streamed online at WolverineGreen.com.
The Wolverines (5-5) lost at Utah State on Tuesday after a late comeback attempt fell short. Isiah Williams led UVU with 16 points while Kevin Woods scored a season-high 10 and Geddes Robinson hauled in nine rebounds.
The Vikings (5-2) defeated Walla Wall by 55 points on Dec. 3 and have won three straight overall. PSU - of the Big Sky Conference - owns a 3-0 record all-time against Utah Valley including a win last season in Portland.
"Portland State is a very athletic, physical team that we haven't been able to solve in the past," said Wolverine coach Dick Hunsaker. "They are coming off of one game in the last 13 days and I'm sure they'll be very fresh, energized and prepared."
Guard Charles Odum's 17.4 points per game leads the Vikings while forward Chehales Tapscott averages 13.1 points and a Big Sky Conference-leading 9.3 rebounds. University of Idaho transfer and former junior college All-American at North Idaho, Renado Parker, is also expected to become eligible in time for Saturday's game.
Robison's 10.3 rebounds per game leads UVU and all Great West Conference players while Williams, the reigning conference Player of the Year, ranks second in the GWC with 15.2 points per game.
Utah Valley will have much of next week off for finals before hosting Georgia State on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 7:05 p.m.
