NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Utah Valley's Holton Hunsaker has been named Great West Conference Player of the Week after an outstanding performance last week in the Wolverines' win over Portland State. The award was announced Monday by the league office.
"I am certainly happy and proud of him," UVU coach Dick Hunsaker said. "He's a competitive guy and this should be something for him to build on."
He scored a career high 26 points last Saturday in the 93-87 win, setting a school record for free throws made without a miss (16-for-16) in a single game. He hit 12 free throws in the final six minutes to help UVU secure the victory. In addition, he tied a career-high with four steals.
For the week, Hunsaker averaged 14.5 points per game, 2.5 steals per game and was perfect from the charity stripe. It's the third time UVU player has received the award so far this season.
The Wolverines next host Georgia State on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. MT.
