BANDON, Ore. -- Utah Valley University held its second place position after 18 more holes at Bandon Dunes Championship, firing a 296 during the tournament's second round on Monday. The Wolverines trail only Missouri, which maintained its lead behind a 284 on day two.

"We got off to a terrible start, but the guys hung in there and finished strong," said UVU head coach Chris Curran. "The wind was completely opposite today than it was yesterday and it made it a whole different golf course. We're right where we want to be heading into tomorrow's final round."

The Wolverines were led on the day by Brayden Eriksen's second round 71. The even-par round pulled Eriksen into the top-10 on the leaderboard as he is tied with UVU teammate JT Timmons for ninth. Timmons began the day in a tie for first, but shot a six-over 77 on Monday. Both Eriksen and Timmons sit six shots back of the individual leader, Jonathan Sanders of Washington at -2.

"JT had a great round yesterday and Brayden stepped up and delivered a real solid round for us today," said Curran.

Heading into Tuesday's final 18 holes, Utah Valley (578) trails Missouri (565) by 13 strokes and is clinging to second place by two strokes ahead of UC Davis. The Aggies began the day in a tie for 7th, but jumped to third behind a 288 on Monday. UW is in fourth (581) and Colorado completes the top five at 582.

St. Mary's and Oregon (586) are tied for sixth, followed by San Jose State (588), Rice (590), and Boston College (598).

All three of UVU's remaining bags finished Monday with four-over 75s. Mike Dart closed the day in a tie for 18th while Preston Richards sits in a tie for 27th. Corey Eccles snuck inside the top-50 and into a tie for 48th.

The Wolverines will tee it up Tuesday morning for their final 18 holes at the Bandon Dunes Championship with their best-ever finish at the tournament -- previously 8th -- within reach. Live scoring can be found here or through the link above.
