UVU Tied for 10th at Bandon Dunes
March 16, 2012
BANDON, Ore. -- After the first day of the Bandon Dunes Championships, the Utah Valley University men's golf team is tied for 10th placed. Second-round action gets underway Saturday morning. "We struggled to make putts, but we didn't shoot ourselves out of it," UVU men's golf coach Chris Curran said. "Conditions were pretty good for Bandon." The University of Washington leads the tournament at even par, while Oregon is second (+3) and Oregon State is third (+7). The Wolverines are just three shots out of fifth and seven out of third. "Saturday is moving day," Curran said. "We need to see how low we can take it." UVU's Mason Casper recorded a 1-over 72 and it tied for 12th. "Mason was steady," Curran said. "He had a few mistakes on the greens or it could have been really low."
Behind Casper, Stratton Schulz (74) is tied for 30th, while Clark Fredrickson (76) and Brayden Eriksen (76) are tied for 48th, and Michael Dart (79) is tied for 66th.
